Pond-Excavation Commenced in Pyapon

A pond-excavation work was commenced in Azote Kyi Village, Kyetpha Mwezaung Village Tract, Pyapon Township on 29th May 2010. That pond was the first of the four ponds intended to be built in Pyapon with the support of the Myanmar Red Cross Society.

Myanmar Red Cross Society would assist with the construction material and technical expertise while the community bought the plot with their own fund. The community would also voluntarily participate in pond-excavation, and MRCS would provide support for pond-fencing and installing sand-filters.

The pond would be the size of 200’ x 200’, and its water storage capacity would fulfill the need of 53 households from Azote Kyi Village.

MRCS have completed excavating 38 ponds in 13 Cyclone-affected townships.
